Russia says ministry, Huawei to talk about use of OS Avrora until Sep

MOSCOW, Jun 21 (PRIME) -- The Digital Development Ministry and Huawei will hold talks on a possible use of Russian operating system Avrora until September, Deputy Minister Mikhail Mamonov said on Friday on the sidelines of the International Cybersecurity Congress.

“We’ve just agreed that we’ll start this work. It means for us that our developments were appreciated at the highest level, they are interesting,” Mamonov said.

“We’re preparing a comprehensive offer to the Chinese party, on the whole how to work with Huawei and other technological companies in Russia. There is a range of questions on localization, transfer of technologies and investment in know-how, an order of research and development centers in Russia. We’re putting all these issues together.”

The first talks will take place by September. “These will be negotiations with Huawei, among specialists,” he said.

Digital Development Minister Konstantin Noskov said on Thursday that the ministry met with Huawei and continues negotiations on cooperation.

Operating system Avrora is developed by state-controlled telecom operator Rostelecom.
